Why should you get to know Traveller54?
I am a South African who has lived in the UK and Holland for the last 30 years. I spend a few months each year in my Cape Town house. I am an accountant and worked for 24 years for a London City investment bank in management roles. I became self employed six years ago and now manage my own residential property portfolio. I have helped to start a recruitment company which is now doing well.
I have been happily married for 33 years. Now that our three children are of university age we have decided to go back to the open marriage we had before the children were born. We don't get involved with each other's partners but leave each other the freedom to date other people. That does mean that I am not looking for a life partner. I am looking for a friend to have fun times with.
I have always loved travel and have travelled for four months in a camper van in Europe, gone overland from London to Katmandu, travelled in a RV from San Fransisco to LA, been to the Calgary Stampede, seen an erupting volcano in Costa Rica, body surfed in Hawaii, snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef, failed to climb Ayers Rock, rode elephants in Thailand, walked in the Himalayas, visited the Taj Mahal at full moon, sailed on the Nile in a Felucca. I love the African bush, have a time share in a game reserve, spend time on game reserves every year and went on a two week game ranger course in 2007. I have travelled widely in South Africa and surrounding countries.
Since the beginning of 2008 I have lost weight and go to the gym five times a week. I love spinning which has made me very fit. When in Cape Town I often do hikes over the mountains of ten or more miles. I keep up to date with the news and have an interest in world politics and business. I am economically conservative, socially liberal and ecologically green. I have opinions and like to debate them. I like to know what makes people tick. Like most people I think I have a sense of humour. I am easy going and light hearted.
